Design lovers rejoice! Amsterdam-based fashion-tech startup Zazzy is on a mission to put the power of jewelry design in the hands of creatives across the globe. Launching officially today, after announcing their first round of seed funding this week, the brand creates trend-led jewelry collections that are incomplete until customers redesign, customize or personalize them. Utilizing professional 3D printers to ensure the quality of the pieces, Zazzy merges fashion and tech in an exciting and inclusive way.

Whether you are passionate about engaging with the design process behind the things you wear, interested in adding to a new value to your fashion buys or eager to get involved in the 3D printing revolution, Zazzy’s eight collections of customizable jewelry allow you to do it all. Developing a new trend-led collection every month, along with the technology to allow users to redesign them, the fashion startup is merging style with tech effortlessly.

The Word Play bracelets, for example, simply allow the user to change the text and metals and add symbols to their bracelet, while the Origami collection offers further design freedom by giving users the power to create an elegant linear pendant from scratch. Using rendering technology developed in-house, the user can see a photorealistic image of their designs, as they design, and share them with their friends and followers.

Along with the new website, Zazzy has also added an eighth collection to their offerings. The Totum collection allows you create personalized stacking charms to represent member of your family in a stylish way.

Zazzy’s future plan are very much focussed on empowering you to become your own designers. A virtual marketplace where customers and designers can take advantage of the technology to create sellable collections will launch soon. As there are no set-up fees or minimum orders with 3D printing, bloggers will be able to monetize their reach, small businesses will be able to order a short-run from promising young designers, and customers will end up with products that they themselves have invested time and thought into creating.

Zazzy is also in the process of opening their technology to third-party developers who will be able to use their powerful API to create infinitely customizable objects including homewares, accessories and gadgets.

“By taking advantage of 3D printing, we believe that not only will the fashion industry become a more bespoke industry, it will become a better one. 3D printing is the antithesis of mass-production and mass-production is the antithesis of design,” says Niamh O’Dea, Zazzy’s Creative Director. “Allowing users to create their own jewelry brings a whole new relevance and emotion to their purchases. Though our collections are affordable, with prices starting at €20, you don’t have to worry about thousands of girls having the same piece, or whether or not someone was exploited in the manufacturing process.”

The Collections

Each of the seven current collections were designed with the distinct aim of offering the customer the chance to shape, develop and design their own jewelry; to feel a personal attachment to the pieces.

The Lyric Collection allows customers created their own wordy pendants in gold-plated, matte black, stainless steel or bronze. The ultimate in fangirling, customers are encouraged to show their musical love with their favourite lyrics, weddings song or best festie moment. Tell your story. €24.95

The Origami Collection encourages users to get back to basics and create stunningly minimalistic pendants made from nothing more than straight lines and angles. It’s geometry at its best. Available in gold-plated, stainless steel, matte black steel and bronze. €39.95

The Honeycomb Collection allows customers create complex shapes by repeating a rather simple one. Numerous hexagons can be placed alongside one another to make the simplest or most intricate bracelets. Available in gold-plated, stainless steel, matte black steel, bronze and nylon. Nylons come in pink, purple, blue, red and black. From €24.95

The Wordplay Collection invites customers to personalize their word bracelet by remixing the text and symbols and choosing the metals it will be printed in. A favourite among couples, new mums and word nerds, the bracelet is completed with a choice of coloured real leather cords. Available in gold-plated, stainless steel, matte black steel and bronze. From €19.95.

The Big Talk Collection is the perfect starting point for fashionistas looking to make a big statement. Oversized, curvy lettering make up a large word necklace for unmissable impact. Shoppers can choose their own word, material and colour. Available in metals and nylons, Big Talk pendants are loud and proud. From €35.

Whisperings Collection. Style and tech, wrapped around your finger. Stylish, sweet and so discrete, Whisperings allow users input their own special words or names. Printed in sterling silver, solid bronze or gold-plated brass, from €65.

Monograms. Three letters, three metals, one seriously stylish pendant. Create a traditional monogram or a trendy initial pendant using up to three characters and start stacking like a style-icon. Printed in sterling silver, solid bronze or gold-plated brass, from €75.

Totum Collection. We mixed the word “totem”, a representation of family, with “datum” the Dutch for “date”, and ended up with “totum”, the latin for “whole”. Genus est totum, or family is everything describes these stacking charms perfectly. Choose an initial to be carved through your design, a special date to be engraved on the back, the length of your Totum and the premium metal and start stacking. Printed in sterling silver, solid bronze or gold-plated brass.
