“Cutting edge technology is an exciting means to creativity. Zazzy compromises on neither. Customers are offered truly exciting technologies in a user-friendly environment. They understand the fashion landscape is becoming increasingly tech-savvy and have the products that have proven to be successful” said Jan-Joost Rueb founder of eBuddy. “We are excited to invest in Zazzy because of the team, the products and the huge potential of the market."

“Those interested in fashion tend to be visual people who are open to new technologies - providing they are useful and relevant to their lives. Our newly launched platform allows users without any 3D printing skills to develop and personalize their designs easily. Our powerful 3D rendering allows them to see photorealistic imagery of their design, as they design it. So far, our customers have generated 50 thousand designs combined and counting. With new branding, a new site and new collections launching today, we’re looking forward to reaching even more creatives who will grow as designers as we grow as a brand,” said Gert Jan Spriensma, CEO, Zazzy. “We are very excited to announce this round of funding which will advance our goal of building a platform where fashion and technology truly benefit from one another. The funding will be used to scale the platform worldwide, further advance the technology that our users have adopted so enthusiastically and build a collaborative design and fashion community.

About Zazzy

Founded in early 2013, Zazzy is a technology-driven jewelry company based in Amsterdam currently employing 10 people. Early in its existence, the company was one of ten startups selected by the Rockstart Accelerator Program, The Netherlands’ leading startup accelerator. In its first year it signed a deal with one of the largest non-food retailers in the Netherlands.

Utilizing 3D printers to produce the jewelry, and developing technology that allows users bypass the need for 3D modeling skills, Zazzy offer unprecedented customization, design freedom and affordability to shoppers. By using professional 3D printers, the company ensures a high-quality end product and instils user confidence. Offering traditional jewelry-making materials, including sterling silver, bronze and gold-plated brass, further improves the user experience.

Partnerships

Zazzy continues to grow new and exciting relationships within the fashion, design and tech industries. By utilizing 3D printers to create the end product, Zazzy can offer small to large sized companies short runs, limited collections and affordable prototypes without the major setup costs or many of ethical implications associated with mass-production.

The company’s launch this week also sees the first steps in an upcoming marketplace where customers will be able to monetize their designs. Currently, users who design a piece can share it with friends and followers and earn a percentage from subsequent sales.

Investors

Each of Zazzy’s investors are entrepreneurs with varying web-based backgrounds including 3D printing, eCommerce and social networks.

- Jan-Joost Rueb & Onno Bakker, founders of eBuddy.
- Floris Rost van Tonningen, co-founder of Hyves.
- Marcel Beemsterboer, co-founder of Emesa / Vakantieveilingen.nl.
- Ilko Bosman, co-founder of Freedom of Creation.
